“Flight of Dreams”
In the midst of wind that blew dust on the village roads and the song of birds, a boy would wake up early in the morning. His name was Arjun. Arjun’s father was a farmer, and his earnings were not sufficient to get Arjun educated in a good school in the city. But Arjun had a dream in his heart – he wanted to be a pilot. He had glimpsed photographs of planes in books and believed one day he also would soar through the air.
There was no good school in Arjun’s village, but he would go 5 kilometers daily to the school in the nearby town. He did not possess new clothes, nor costly books, but his hard work and dedication kept him always on the top of the class. His teachers were highly impressed with his hard work and always motivated him.
A competition was announced one day in the school. The subject of the competition was – “Your dreams and plans to fulfill them.” Arjun took part in this competition and narrated his dream that he wished to be a pilot. He explained how he struggles every day and how he is prepared to accomplish his dream. All were amazed to listen to him. His integrity and commitment impressed the judges, and he won the first place in the contest.
After the competition, Arjun’s teacher summoned him and told him, “Arjun, there is something special within you. You need to work even more diligently to achieve your dream. I will assist you.” The teacher assisted Arjun in getting admission into a coaching center in the city, where he needed to work hard to become a pilot.
Arjun joined the coaching center, but the expenses there proved to be an enormous problem for him. His father told him, “Son, we don’t have sufficient money to fund your education.” But Arjun did not lose hope. He began saving money by performing small tasks. He would get up early in the morning to deliver newspapers, give tuition in the afternoon, and attend the coaching center in the evening. His determination and perseverance provided him with the courage to combat every challenge.
After several years of hard work, Arjun cleared all the exams to become a pilot. His wish had finally been fulfilled. When he sat in the plane to fly it for the first time, tears of happiness in his eyes. He felt, “My struggle and hard work has led me to this place.”
